Why World Vision?

EXPERIENCE AND REPUTATION

World Vision is the largest non governmental humanitarian organization in the world, They have the infrastructure, experience and relationships to bring lasting change and transform communities and lives.

THEIR APPROACH TO CREATE A SELF SUFFICIENT COMMUNITY

WV invests an average of 15 years in a community- developing long-term partnerships. During that time, their teams work side by side with community members, addressing the root causes of poverty, empowering them to participate, own and continue to drive development. Their model works-and keeps working over the long term, well after World Vision leaves. Learn how World Vision Works.

THEIR WATER PROGRAM SUCCESS

The sustainability of all of WV water systems is laid within the community from the very beginning. Before a water project is started , the members of the community must be compliant with critical sanitation and hygiene training and interventions. An independent study conducted by The Water Institute at the University of NC, showed nearly 80 % of WV wells studied continued to function at high levels even after 20 years. Their community approach to sustainability showed that forming a water committee in the community and charging a fee for use of the water and training local peoples as mechanics to repair pumps when they break down are part of the reason why WV wells set the standard for sustainability.
